This is NOT a teaching post. BUT it is something that can help you if you have, say, a potluck at school for your holiday party.
This Thanksgiving I made a fantastic little crockpot dessert that was *demolished* by all in attendance. It was SO easy, that I thought it would make the perfect Potluck dessert for school.
What was it?
Crockpot Chocolate Lava Cake
Yes...you read that right. Chocolate.Lava.Cake. YUM!!!!
It takes 3 ingredients (sort of)
Chocolate cake mix
Chocolate pudding
Chocolate chips
Here is what you do. Prepare the cake mix as the box says (so you will need eggs and oil). Pour that into the crockpot. Then prepare the pudding as the package says (you will need milk). Pour that on top of the cake batter. Pour the entire bag of chocolate chips on top of all of that. Turn the crockpot onto high and let it bake for 3 hours.
That is it. SO EASY!
Top with cool whip and you have an amazingly awesome dessert that promises to be a hit!
And, just for fun, and to drive home the idea that I can not really do things that are too complicated in the kitchen....here was my first attempt at ice cream cone cupcakes. Totally nailed them.
What is one EASY potluck dish you know how to make?
Sounds awesome! I was just thinking that it would be good with lemon too I bet!
ReplyDeleteI am definitely a chocolate girl, but lemon might be yummy!
DeleteI LOVE crock potting and will pin this to my recipe board! What I have learned to do with my crock pot is to freeze the other half in really good tins (not the ones from the store, but from a food service) and then reheat awhile later! Cuts down on me cooking! Here's one of my favorites:
ReplyDeleteCream Cheese Chicken
2 pounds chicken (breast or tenders)
1 package italian salad dressing mix
4 tablespoons butter
1 onion chopped
1 clove garlic diced
8 ounces cream cheese
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 cup chicken stock
Directions: Place all ingredients except stock and cream cheese in bag and freeze. Add chicken stock and cream cheese along with bag of ingredients to crockpot and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.

For the chocolate lava cake, do you use the high setting or the regular setting on the crock pot?
ReplyDeleteIt was the high setting.
DeleteInstant pudding? for lava cake...
ReplyDeleteYes, instant :) We used fat free milk to make it too.
DeleteI made the chocolate crockpot lava cake this weekend. It was very yummy especially with vanilla bean ice cream. Thanks for sharing!
