One year ago....
One year ago, on December 16, I logged onto my computer, signed up on blogspot, and began writing down the different ideas and activities that were going on in my room. My intention was simply to share the things that I was doing with others because I thought a few people might like to read about it. Little did I know how much this year would mean to me.
In one year I have made new friends to bounce ideas off of and learn new techniques from. Some of these people (and you know who you are ;) ) have become true friends, even though we have never met.
In one year I have been welcomed into a community of other bloggers, which is endlessly supportive and fabulous.
In one year I have gained a new set of teaching "tools" with which to draw from in my lessons.
In one year I have come to depend upon you, my readers, for support and a "shoulder".
In one year I have streamlined my instruction, making better choices, heading in new directions, trying things out, and taking risks.
In one year I have become a better teacher.
So as a THANK YOU to you, my readers, and to celebrate my one year blogiversary, I have decided to give you the gift. I am giving away gift bags of everything in my store. There will be a Math Gift, a Reading Gift, and a Writing Gift. Just enter the rafflecopter below for the Gift Bag (or two or three) you would like. That is it! I will pick a winner from each on December 16th.
And, as a parting favor at my birthday celebration, everyone who is a follower of mine will get a "Favor Bag" of a sample of the Reading Response Mats and Greek/Latin Root Word Memory Game. All you need to do is leave a comment below, with your email address (and be sure to be a follower, because anonymous sharing is turned off!) I wouldn't be mad if you told me one thing you have done after reading my blog ;)
So there we go. A blogiversary birthday celebration. And a sincere thank you from me for allowing me to share this journey with you. a Rafflecopter giveaway a Rafflecopter giveaway a Rafflecopter giveaway

Your blog is full of fabulous ideas! Reading each post makes me wish I still taught middle school instead of being a lower elementary instructional coach. After I read about your calendar math ideas, I shared it with the special education teacher. She visited to read all about it and began to immediately implement changes in her room. Her kids loved it! You are inspiration to so many. Thank for sharing everything you do with your students. Happy blogiversary!

I love your ideas, and I've implemented many in my classroom: poem of the week, calendar math, spiral math homework, reading response mats, the product where kids "blog" about their reading, Native American Museum (ours is Friday morning!), Greek and Latin Roots (I use yours and made more to fit what Treasures teaches using your root word blanks), place value game, Scholastic book order wish list - to name the ones I remember offhand. I won't enter your give away as I have all the items, and more people need to know how very useful your ideas and products are. Thank you very very much for sharing!
ReplyDeleteJan Tappan

I love all the ideas that you share. It's hard to choose a favorite, but after reading your blogs I almost wish I was teaching math to use some of those wonderful ideas. (I am NOT a math person so this is a HUGE compliment) ;)

Congrats on your blogday! I can't even begin to tell you what a help and inspiration you have been to my teaching. I am using TONS of your ideas: spiral math homework and quizzes(LOVE LOVE IT!),lightning rods, reading logs, Native American project, paragraph of the week (starting this after winter break), foldables, social studies and science ideas, just finished our holiday present with last names, and that's just a few of the ideas I have used. Oh! The classroom economy and your procedure manual! If I sit here long enough I'll have a whole letter instead of a paragraph! Thank you and thank you again.

Congrats! I have been so busy and have not been able to get on as much as I hoped since the school year started, but hopefully over the break I can catch up and get back on to share and learn. I am still very new to this but since I have seen your blog I have used your spiral math and lightning rod. I must say that my kids are doing awesome with their facts and the spiral math has really helped introduce and discuss skills that we have not covered yet. Thank you for all you do :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats! I LOVE reading your blog. You have so many wonderful ideas. Thank you for sharing :)

Congrats! I have loved your root word trees and your rainy day mats. I know there's so many other times I'm about to teach something and I wonder "what has STephanie done?" Oh! I've done the dry erase/dice game that's not really a game activity in math - keeps them busy, keeps them happy. :) Thanks for sharing your world with us!
