I told you I was going to post twice, so here is the second post today :) In the previous post, I showed you this cute little folded book that my teaching teammate Kristi showed me. Now, I am going to show you how to make it....with pictures :)
This is the final product, just so you know what to aim for.
Here are the materials you will need:
one 24" x 6" piece of paper (they yellow one)
six 11" x 6" pieces of paper (two each of three colors)
two pieces of yarn
scissors
(sorry, I wrote all of that on the picture, but it is too hard to read)
1. Fold the long piece of paper in half once, then half again.
2. Open it up, and refold the two outer flaps in, so they form a sort of door looking thing.
3. Now on to the small pieces of paper. Line them up so that you have two stacks, with one of each color per stack. Then fold each of those stacks in half, keeping the papers all together.
4. Each of those folded books belong inside one of the door flaps of your long paper. Place one of them in, making sure the folds line up. Then cut two little triangles out of the side.
5. Pass the yarn through the holes, and tie a knot on the outside of the flap.
Repeat steps 4 and 5 for the other side of the book. You will then have this:
The book then folds in half to close up! And there you have it, a step by step guide to creating this cute little folding book :) Thanks again Kristi for this GREAT idea!
I love this! Can't wait to use them in my classroom. I am thinking I might do one side for the inner planets and the other side for the outer planets. Oh the possibilities! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI teach First Grade and can't WAIT to teach this to my kids...they are so into making books right now and all they do is cut up paper and make a mess, this will be so welcome!
